Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness Installation - 2013 GMC Sierra

Hi there GMC owners, today on your 2013 GMC Sierra 2500, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tow Readies in bed wiring kit. And this is what our in bed connector looks like when it's installed. You'll be able to take a existing 7-way connector that's on your vehicle, and relocate it here inside of your truck bed. And that has quite a few uses. The most common use is for gooseneck and fifth wheel trailers. Just because those, where the wiring comes out of those trailers, it usually comes out near kind of the middle of your truck bed, maybe a little bit further back but a lot of times the wiring is not long enough on that trailer to drape over the back of your tailgate, and plug into the connector located on your bumper. more

Pollak Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness Installation - 2013 GMC Sierra

Hi there GMC owners. Today, on your 2013 GMC Sierra, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Pollak's in-bed wiring harness. You can see here that you've got a seven-way connector and it's very similar to the one you've got at the back of the vehicle. It's got a spring-loaded door on it with a seal on the inside to it protected against moisture and corrosion. And we've got all the necessary signals coming out of our seven-way here that's also available at the back. Because with this kit, we're just kind of piggybacking onto our existing wiring and bringing that up here to give us a closer connection for our gooseneck or 5th wheel trailers. more

And this is what our connector looks like when it's installed. You do have the option to put it wherever you want here in the back of your truck as long as you've got the room to install it there. Typically, this location here at the back by the tailgate, there's usually plenty of room here. And this is usually a great spot that gives you plenty of length to be able to hook up your trailer to cause your trailer's gonna be coming on from the back there. more

Curt 5th Wheel Wiring Harness Installation - 2013 GMC Sierra

Hey everyone shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 and I want to walk through how to install the Curt, custom fit 5th wheel gooseneck inbed wiring harness. This is going to give us a simple plug in the bed of our truck. What makes it nice is when we're pulling that 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer, we don't have to take the wires and drooping over top of our tailgate and plug them in at our bumper it allows us to plug them in inside the bed to keep everything contained and it stays looking nice, we're not worring about the cord potentially damaging our tailgate on the outside. It's going to give us all of our proper lighting functions, brake lights, running lights, both turn signals, it's also going to give us a break output, so we're pulling a trailer that has brakes, and we have a brake controller also, it's going to give us the option for a reverse light signal if we decide to hook it up, or if we have it hooked up.Our plug here that mounts on the inside of the bed, they're going to be a durable plastic construction, spring loaded lid so when we're not using it, it stays closed. Nice grab handle so it makes it easy to open. more

The benefit of having this is when you hook your fifth wheel up, you can run the wire directly from your fifth wheel right into the bed of your truck and wiring stays in. Instead of having inaudible 00:00:33 way underneath on your bumper and having to run the wire up and over.First thing we need to do, is you see this section here inside of the bed. more

Today a 2011 GMC Sierra. We're going to the Draw-Tite fifth wheel and gooseneck wiring harness with a 7-pole connector, part number 20110. A few things to know about wire harness is that it's length is 7 and 1/2 foot long so you can keep it near the tailgate or made for a sliding camper. You can run it towards the cab of a truck. It does simply plug it between OEM wiring harness and the factory installed 7-way connector. Also, this does retain the use of the factory 7-way inaudible 00:00:27 vehicle so you have 2 in the back of your truck, one in the bed and one in the bumper. more

Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness Installation - 2001 GMC Sierra

Today on our 2001 GMC Sierra, we'll be installing the Pollack 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer Connector, part number PK11893-11932. Now to begin our install, we'll first go ahead and find a location to mount the new 7-pole connector and drill out our holes. In our pickup bed on the driver's side just behind the rear wheel well is a good location. Using a 2-inch hole saw bit, we'll go ahead and drill out our hole. Now in order to get our wiring harness fed from underneath and up through our hole, we'll need to remove the two fasteners that secure the mudguard here behind the wheel well. There's one just on the inside of the wheel well lip and one underneath the tail light area. Once we have the fasteners out, we can go ahead and pull the guard down. Now that we have the wire fed into position, we'll move back to the pickup bed where we'll install the wires into the back of the connector. Now when installing our wires, each connector is faintly marked with a number. more

To begin with, we'll go ahead and go underneath the rear of the vehicle. We need to locate the wiring harness that we'll be tying into. As you can see here, the wiring harness is located here from the factory. Now first well go ahead and strip off the ends of the wire so we can put our butt connectors on. We'll do this on our four flat end first and then we'll go ahead and put the butt connector on those. Now the kit comes with quick-splice connectors but we're going to opt to use some butt connectors instead, which are part number DW05714. You'll need a total of four of these to make the connections. more

Today on our 2012 GMC Sierra Denali, were going to install the Bargman seven pole harness, part number 50-97-410. The first step of our installation is to locate a suitable spot for our seven pole connector. Here in the bed of the truck, is an excellent location, as behind it we have enough clearance before we meet the outside of the fender. Next well need to drill a two inch hole to feed our wire through. Now with our hole made, we can go ahead and take the new seven pole harness and carefully feed it through the hole. You want to be very careful because the edges that we just created by drilling the hole will be very sharp. Now weve got our seven pole into position, we can go ahead and use the cell tapping screws provided with our install kit to secure it.Now underneath the vehicle well go ahead and start routing our wire over to the back of the bumper. more

Pollak Twist-In Trailer Connector Installation - 2010 GMC Sierra

Today we are working on a 2010 GMC Sierra. We are going to install a 7 pole connector by Pollack, part number pk11916. Our first step is to get underneath the vehicle here and locate the current manufacturers harness. On the top side of this, you will notice a bump out in the round connector, theres a lock on the back side of that connector, you will need to press and disconnect. Now I am going to go ahead and let the vehicle down and take a look at the outside part of the current connector. This piece is just a knock out, its where our new connector is going to mount its not an actual connector at this time. more

Pollak Twist-In Trailer Connector Installation - 2009 GMC Sierra

Today on this 2009 GMC Sierra, we are going to be installing the Pollak 7-Pole Twist-In Style Connecter. Okay, we are here at the rear bumper of our Sierra, and if you look here, mounted is a dummy plug for our connector. We are going to twist this out and plug our new connector right in line to it. So to remove our knockout plug, if you go to the outside outboard side of it here, you can see that there is a little tab there. We press that in. We just want to go ahead and rotate the plug, and pull it right out of there. Attached on the back side is the connector for our tow package. If you look right on top here, there is a little release tab. Press that in, and go ahead and separate the two pieces. 0:44 more

What we have in place right now is a dummy plug so we are going to remove that and plug our connector in line. What we need to do to remove the dummy plug is if you look on the outboard side there is a little tab. Take a flat head screwdriver and press that in and take and turn the dummy plug counter clockwise and then pull it right out. 00:39 more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 GMC Sierra

Today we are going to install a 4-pole and 7-pole connector by Hoppy, part number 30955, on a 2006 GMC Sierra. This wiring connector that we are installing goes right into the factory connector. So I would start with lowering the spare tire for good visibility. You are going to want to take the existing wiring down so you can use this excess slack to run it to the bumper so you can mount the connector. Once you get the wiring harness taken down and the cap pulled off, then you are going to need to mount your mounting bracket to the bumper. Once you find a good location, mount the bracket with the self-tapping screws. more
